Devils Rule, get scrimmage win 40-12

Monroe won the coin toss and chose to defer where the Devils then chose to receive the kick. Tift County turned the ball over in the first play after Monroe recovered the kick. 
 
Both teams struggled to gain yards, but Monroe picked up the first touchdown putting them up 6-0 with a kick that was no good. 
 
Tift was unable to answer back in the first quarter as the Tornadoes led going into the second quarter 6-0.
 
Tift would start the second quarter strong.Quarterback, Ryan Wedgeworth, carried the ball 23 
yards to score Tift’s first touchdown of the night, but a bad kick would keep the game tied 6-6. Although Monroe was unable to answer back to Tift’s touchdown, Monroe would recover a fumble by Tift. 
 
The Tornadoes pushed to move the ball with a long pass that was blocked by Junior, Malik Henry, of Tift. This forced Monroe to punt the ball once again. 
 
Ladarius “Boo” Stewart had two carries from Monroe’s 15 to their 47 yard line. Tift continued 
to move the ball with Bralin Denson carried the ball all the way to Tift’s 20 yard line. The Blue Devils pushed the ball all the way to the 7 yard line where Wedgeworth threw a short pass to Malik Pittman who would put the Devils up 12-6.
 
Before the first half came to an end Pittman would catch a 51 yard pass to put the devils up 19-6 with an extra point by Frankie Mejia with a minute and 28 seconds left in the first half.  
 
The Devils led going into the third quarter, but Monroe came out quick ready to score and a pass 
long would put points on the board bringing the score 19-12. Monroe attempted to bring the score closer with a 2-point conversion but fell short on the pass play.
 
The Devils were quick to answer back when Wedgeworth ran the ball in for a 34 yard touchdown and with Mejia’s extra point the Devils were up 27-12.
 
Monroe struggled to gain yards and missed the first down by inches, turning the ball back over to Tift. Henry would then catch a 56 yard pass from Wedgeworth scoring another touchdown for the Devils and an extra point would put the Devils up 33-12 at the end of the third quarter. 
 
Tift’s second string started the fourth quarter strong hold the Tornadoes at 12, while scoring a final touchdown and extra point. 
 
The Tift County Blue Devils took home the victory 40-12 against the Monroe High Tornadoes. 
 
Tift’s next game will host Westover, Friday, August 30, 2013, at Brodie Field, in the first season game.
