Fitzgerald Unleashes A Cat 5 Storm on Brooks

Quitman Ga – In a Big Region matchup last night Brooks County hosted the Purple Hurricanes from Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald coming off a heartbreaking loss a few weeks ago to Thomasville and a loss at home to Brooks last year was looking for vengeance.

The Canes got the ball first a promptly marched down the field only to fumble after a pass and catch inside the ten yard line. Brook would waste no time, passing the ball they would take the turnover and take the first score of the night.  Both teams would play stellar ball in the first half with Brooks taking a 22-21 halftime lead into the locker room.

Second Hall football was as if both teams started over. The Canes were on fire!  Outscoring Brooks 36 to 7 in the second half. J.D. King was tonight’s player of the game and ran the ball very well all night. Trey Graham and Taeylon Gaulden would also have a big night running the ball. The second half play calling seemed to catch Brooks County  constantly off guard and guessing the next play.

On the defensive side Anthony Ransey and Michael Jackson had another good night stopping the Trojans.  Josh Reliford & Dieuseul Stcyr would stop two drives by the Trojans in the second half intercepting the ball in the end zone both times. It would seem that Fitzgerald should easy through the rest of this year’s schedule and tonight’s win puts them in a good spot for the playoffs. Fitzgerald will host Pelham next Friday night and will be homecoming for the Canes.

Final Score Fitzgerald 57 Brooks 29.
