Hoops: Worth Boys Dominate Dooly

Sylvester – Arthur Davis has high hopes for his season. The Worth County Head Boys Basketball Coach has had a great summer with his squad, coming off a 22-7 record last season. He might think he has some unfinished business after losing to Jonesboro in the 2nd round of the GHSA playoffs. Playing in a scrimmage against the visiting Dooly County Bobcats, the Rams took control early and never let up, winning 81-32.

Outscoring Dooly 19-6 in the first frame, the Rams used tough defense and a fast pace to put the Bobcats on their heels. Returning Junior shot blocker Anfernee McLemore led all classifications in shots blocked last season. He would make his presence felt in the paint.  Brandon Moore, a 6’5 Junior Post player, did most of the heavy lifting, scoring 7 of the 19.  In the 2nd Quarter, Kadarius Grant would heat up, running a tally for 11 of the Rams’ 25. Worth would take a 44- 17 lead to the locker room.

After the break Kentarious Bailey and McLemore would find the heat, with Bailey leading the way with 8 points in the period, and McLemore adding 7 points for 15 of the 21 points scored. Worth would lead 65-29.

Leading all scorers would be Moore, finishing with 21, McLemore with 15 points, Bailey with 12, and Grant’s 11. For Dooly, Justin McGhee would end with 11 points on the night, and TyJae Taylor and Adrain Kenny would both have 7 points. The Rams shot just 53% from the charity stripe (14 for 26).

Worth will host the Lowndes Vikings on Saturday night. Boys game time is 7:30PM.
