TA Boys Roll over CCA

Chula – In the home opener at the Chuladome, the Tiftarea Academy Panthers would play host to Citizen Christian’s Patriots squad. TA opened on Tuesday with Southwest Georgia Academy, netting a victory 61-40. Coach Dan Henderson hoped that win would become a streak in front of the home crowd.

Tiftarea would come out hot, outscoring CCA on a 15-3 run in the first frame. It was to be a lead CCA could not overcome, as the Panthers would lead 30-4 at the break. The offensive production for the Patriots would get a little better for CCA in the third, adding 7 points to the tally, but unable to stop the bleeding as the Panthers dished out more offense. Outscored 14-7, CCA would get a chance to gain ground against the Panther reserves in the final frame but fell short 10-9 in the quarter, and lost 54-20.

Tiftarea was led by Bailey Cunningham with 11 points, Trent Hobbs added 8 points, and Sam Varnadoe 7 points. Austin Stripling and Nathan Carswell would each finish with 5 points, while Logan Carswell, Jack Raines, and Nathan Duvall added 4 a piece.

For CCA, there were only four scorers. Dalton Wilkes finished with 7 points, Jacob Welker 5 points, and Brandon Mobley and Lance Fountain scored four points.

Tiftarea shot 53% from the free throw line, while CCA went just 2 for 13 at the stripe.

Tiftarea moves to 2-0 and will face Southwest Georgia Academy in Chula on Dec. 5th. Game time is set for 8:00PM.
