Slugfest: Worth Defeats Warner Robins 80-65

Sylvester – Arthur Davis thought it would be a good test when the Warner Robins Demons came to visit. The Demons have two big men, and are as physical as Worth in the paint. The Rams, 1-0, played host, and after a title bout, took home a 80-65 win.

Worth would outscore the Demons 16-11, in a fast paced, foul filled 1st period. Kentarious Bailey hit two big 3-pointers in the frame. Brandon Moore would slice and ice his way through the Demons defense, accounting for 8 points, going for 4 for 6 at the line.  Moore also drew an elbow from Nate Curtis, and his reaction to the elbow drew a technical foul. No punishment was doled out for Warner Robins.

In the second frame, spurred by the aggressiveness of the play, the Rams went on a 23-13 run to lead 39-24 at the break. The lead would stay at 15 for the remainder of the contest, as Worth would stay at the line in the second half, shooting 15 for 19 as the game wore down.Demons Coach Jaamal Garmin burned timeout after timeout in the 4th, trying to gain ground. In a rarity, the bench coaches for Warner Robins were on their feet, at the same time, for most of the contest.

Worth was led by Anfernee McLemore, who finished with 21 points, Moore finished with 20 points, and  Bailey added 15. For Warner Robins, Tracy King kept the Demons in hte contest all night, tallying 24 points. Jacolby Owens added 12 points, Nate Curtis finished with 11 points, and Donald Watkins finished with 10 points.

Warner Robins falls to 0-1 and will face cross county rival Perry on Tuesday night. Game time is 7:30PM. For Worth, the Rams move to 2-0 and will not play again until Dec. 2nd, against Fitzgerald in Sylvester. Game Time is 7:30PM.
