Using a huge quarter by Hayden Mullinax, and strong defense, the Devils went on a 19-5 run in the period. Mulloinax and Tyrie Jackson would each score six the frame. Mullinax saw touches in mismatches created by the Blue Jackets in double teaming PJ Horne. Jackson’s point came off steals and fast break dunks and layups.

In the second period, the Blue Jackets would adjust, finding the hoop for 11 points in the quarter, but struggling to contain the Tift offense as the Blue Devils added four to their lead, 34-16.  Holland got good minutes from Deion White, who joined guard Micah Johnson to lead the scoring with four apiece.

At the break, Tift would again edge out Savannah, winning the quarter 13-11, but building the lead to 47-27. Savannah would increase pressure in the fourth period, and move to lnog distance shots as they worked to close the gap. Scoring 25 in the frame, the Blue Jackets cut the lead to 11 at roughly 5:00 minutes to play, but Tift closed the door. Forced to foul in the last minutes, Savannah couldn’t stop the Devils. Jalen Lewis shot well in the frame, tallying all 10 of his points in the period. Jackson added six points in the final period.

On the evening, Jackson would lead the Devils with 18, tying the game high. PJ Horne would finish with 11 points, Micah Johnson with 10 points, and Hayden Mullinax with nine points. Savannah would be led Jermiane Williams, a 6’4″ senior forward who finished with 18 points, Diqawn Mitchell, a Junior guard, adding 13 points, and Zion Williams, a sophomore guard, with 12 points.

Tift improves to 4-0, and will face Wayne County tomorrow night as the Friendly City Classic ends. Game time is 8:30PM. Savannah falls to 1-2 and will host Thompson tomorrow night in Savannah. Game time is 5:00PM.
