Panthers Sweep SGA

The Tiftarea Academy Panthers hosted a home basketball game against the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors Saturday night, December 6. The Panthers swept the Warriors winning both the girls and boys game. The Girls deafted the Warriors 49-40 while the boys took a big lead winning 51-24.

IMG_4180The girls game started off slow both teams only scoring 6 points a piece. Erin Register put up four of those point for the Lady Panthers in the first quarter. The second quarter continued to go slow for the girls only scoring seven points. Macy Strenth put up a three pointer to put the Lady Panthers up by one at the end of the first half. Tiftarea led 13-12. Both teams came out of the half prepared to put points on the bored adding 19 points to both of their scores. Strenth led the Lady Panthers, putting up seven of those points. The fourth quarter was no different for the Lady Panthers putting up 17 more points on the board. The Lady Warriors struggled to answer back only scoring nine points falling to Tiftarea by nine points.  Erin Register led the Lady Panthers with 15 points during the game. Maci Paulk and Macy Strenth each put up 14 point a piece.

The Panthers came out strong in the first quarter making shots and keeping their defense strong scoring 18 points and only allowing SGA six. Austin Stripling led the Panther during the first half with nine points. The Panther’s offense fell off a little during the second half only scoring 10 points but the defense managed to hold the Warriors at only 6 points. The Panthers led the Warriors 28-13 going into the half. Going into the third quarter the defense continued to hold the Warrior’s offense and keep them away from the basketball only scoring 5 points while the Panthers put up 10. The fourth quarter wasn’t any different for the Panthers continuing to play with a great defense and drivng to the goal, they put up an additional 13 points and left the Warriors once again under ten points for the quarter. The Panthers defeated the Warriors 51-24, with Stripling leading the panthers in baskets with a total of 15 points.

The Tiftarea Academy Panthers will be hosting Fullington Academy Tuesday December 9. Girls tip off is at 6:30 PM come out and support the Lady Panthers and the Panthers.
