Turner Wns 72-52 over Crisp

Playing 18 days after their first meeting in Cordele, the Turner County Rebels and the Crisp County Cougars tipped off in Ashburn on Tuesday night. The Rebels won 67-60 at the Cougar Den on December 5. And while this matchup was close for a half, the Rebels used a strong third quarter to open up a big lead and eventually win 72-52.

The Rebels, coached by Dr. Tyrone Kellogg, only led 30-25 at the break. But behind the strength of strong aggressive play and good outside shooting by senior Quan Hillmon, the home team was able to out score the Cougars 26-10 to basically put the game away.

Sophomore Tamarrion Terry, who came in averaging 21 points per game on the season, matched his season average. Hillmon continued his strong play of late with 20 points for the night.

The Rebels, who improved to 8-1 with the victory, will be back in action this Friday night at the Civic Center. Turner County is hosting the Ronalda Pierce Holiday Hoopfest. The Rebels will be playing Brooks County at approximately 8:00. Other teams participating in the three day tournament that concludes Monday include Coffee High, Early County, Americus-Sumter, Terrell County, Thomas County Central, and Lanier County.

With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-7 on the season.
