Lady Rebels storm back to defeat Atco

For the second time this week, the Turner County Lady Rebels found themselves in a game in which they trailed by double digits in the second half. Earlier this week, Tasha Kimble’s squad trailed by 11 early in the fourth quarter against Hawkinsville.On Friday night, they found themselves trailing region opponent Atkinson County 40-22 late in the third quarter. The visiting Lady Rebels were threatening to run Turner County right out of their own gym and give them their first region loss of the year.

But then, the sense of urgency kicked in and the light switch turned on.

The Lady Rebels finished the game on a 30-8 run that overlapped the third and fourth quarters to take the key region victory and give Turner County a three game lead in region standings over Atkinson County (13-3 overall, 9-3 in Region 2-A). It was a quality victory for Turner County as they defeated the visitors from Pearson for a second time this season. Those points could prove beneificial as the GHSA Public Class A power rankings continue to evolve. In the most recent rankings, the Lady Rebels were ranked 3rd in the power rankings.

In the victory over Atkinson County, Mylashia Yancey finished with a game high 16 points. aylor Daniels also controlled the paint for much of the game and finished with 13 points.

With the victory, the Lady Rebels improved to 19-2 overall and 12-0 in region play. Next up is a visit from Charlton County on Saturday night with tip off scheduled for 6:00.
