Turner wins Battle of the Rebels

The Turner County Rebels were in action Friday night in Ashburn in the Battle of the Rebels as Atkinson County made the hour long trip from Pearson.  Turner County had already defeated Atkinson 76-53 back in December in a game that Turner County fully controlled. This game was no different.

Turner County built a commanding 53-13 lead at halftime, which afforded Dr. Tyrone Kellogg the opportunity to completely empty his bench in the second half en route to an easy 69-38 victory over Atco (4-12 overall and 4-8 in Region 2-A play).

Leading the way for Turner County was Shaquille Baldwin, who scored 18 points in just one half of action. Baldwin has really increased his scoring production of late as he is now averaging just under 13 points per game on the season, including just over 16 points per game over the past ten games. He joins Tamarrion Terry and Quan Hillmon as the double digit scorers on the season for Turner County.

Including Saturday night’s 73-27 victory over Charlton County, the Rebels now have an overall record of 19-3 as they enter the last three games of the regular season. They currently stand 7th in the GHSA Public School Power Rankings that will be updated by the GHSA on Tuesday.

The next game for the Rebels will be Tuesday as they will host Echols County in the last home game of the season.  Tip off will begin at 6:00.
