Brooks pounds Raiders 48-0

Brooks county- The Brooks county Trojans faced off against the Northeast Raiders on Friday night. Northeast (2-9) entered as the 4th seed from Region 4-AA , and would have a large task stopping the Trojans. it proved to be too much early, and Coach Freeman and his Trojans “brought that hammer” 48-0.

Having won the toss, Brooks started their drive on the their own 40-yard line.  Sophomore running back Jonathan White “ate” as he amassed 32 yards on 3 carries, and setup a touchdown in short yardage from Demontay Jones. The Senior QB scored from 2-yards out, making the score 7-0 with 10:23 in the quarter.

After a Brooks defensive stop, the dynamic duo began anew, with White doing much of the ground pounding. Jones got the second touchdown of the game making the score 14-0 on a 2-yard pass to Nathan Vick for the TD.
Driving again, Jones erupted for a 36-yard run, but threw a interception to end the drive. Northeastern would go three and out. White took the ball, running for another large gain on a 38-yard jaunt ending at the Radier 12-yard line.  Jones carried to the TD, his second of three rushing touchdowns in the game, from 12 yards out.
Ahead at the break 21-0, the Trojans amassed roughly 230 yards rushing, White with 109, and Jones adding 107.
The second half began with the Trojans’ Lafabeon Darity intercepting the ball at the Raiders’ 43 yard line, and Jones would score with his legs again from 7-yards out, making the score 28-0 with 9:27 left in the quarter.
On the ensuing drive, Michael Raiford intercepts the ball and Brooks starts from their own 12-yard line.  Brooks would score twice more. Jones would convert the interception into a TD, connecting with Vick for a 20-yard TD pass.
Another Northeast turnover, this one a fumble on their own 9-yard line setup a Brooks TD by Junior running back Naiquavis Sutton. Sutton garnered 43 yards on 5 carries in the second half.
Freeman played sophomore quarterback Mac Perry in the fourth, and Perry connected with Khalid Humphries for the final score, 41-0. The Trojans held the Radiers to just 83 yards total offense, and amassed 476 yards of total offense. Brooks forced four turnovers in a game where nothing went right for the Northeast squad. 329 yards on the ground for the Trojans, with White finishing with a game-high 128, and White nipping at his heels with 122. White also threw for 16 of 21 passing and 142 yards.
Brooks County will now welcome Manchester next Friday night. Manchester dispatched Washington-Wilkes in their contest 41-14. The Blue Devils are 9-3, with their losses coming to Charlton County, Columbus and Region 5 Champion Heard County.2 of their 3 losses have come on the road.  Game time is expected to be 7:30PM at Veterans Stadium.
