Valdosta - Two powerhouses in Region 1-AAAAA this season met for their first region game of 2009 at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. A great atmosphere, good food by the Sideline Mafia, and a good game made for a great night for fans.

Ahead just 3-0 at the break, Northside came out strong in the second half, returning the kickoff for a TD. Valdosta answered twice, to lead 12-9.  Malcolm Mitchell caught a 4th and long pass from the Eagle's 26-yard line for the first TD, and on the defensive side of the ball. Mitchell went 100 yds after picking off a Van Brunt pass in his own end zone.

 Northside would answer with a long drive, capped by a Shaq O'Neal TD from one yard out. Van Brunt was the leading rusher for Northside, finishing with an unofficial 113 yards on 13 carries.

Valdosta will face Warner Robins next week. The Demons defeated Tift 34-0. Northside returns to McConnell - Talbert Stadium to face Houston County. The Bears lost to Coffee 16-2 on Thursday night.
